On the blog today we’re featuring a venue partner that we (and our couples) love: District Winery.  District Winery has become known as one of D.C’s most sought after premier wedding venues Intentionally designed for those who are looking for an effortless turn key experience and a flawless guest experience. By Alyssa Glorioso,  lead planner and owner of Glorious Weddings & Events.  Glorious Weddings & Events specializes in DC area weddings and special occasions.  We love designing and coordinating stylish and nature-inspired celebrations for the modern couple.

The story of the space

Many people do not know this, but District Winery‘s original location is in Brooklyn, New York (aptly named Brooklyn Winery). Its sleek modern design with warm wood tones, industrial-style ceiling and black iron fixtures definitely give it a Brooklyn vibe.

As you enter

First floor beckons you into the tasting room space. My eyes were immediately drawn to this airy statement chandelier.  While the tasting room will likely be open while you host your event, your guests will be invited right upstairs to the mezzanine — a space that is all yours for the duration of the event.

The mezzanine overlooks the working barrel room, with walls of wine coolers. This space has a cozy yet intimate feel. Options for this space are a welcoming area as guests arrive (think your gift table, escort card display, and welcome beverages). Whether it’s a rain plan or you really just love the space it can also be a dreamy cocktail hour space. While guests are enjoying a cabernet, the upstairs is being transformed and readied for dinner and dancing!

Shall we go upstairs?

You might have noticed this gorgeous stairway on Instagram a time or two!

The third floor is one open space that runs the entire length of the building, with natural sections to create different spaces for your wedding day events. Many couples choose to hold their ceremony, cocktails, and dinner, all in this space – and it’s totally possible.

Right away, my eyes noticed the waterfront just beyond the building.  The The Yard Park bridge creates a not-often seen iconic DC view that guests will rave about. Nats Park is right around the corner!

We had mentioned the mezzanine as option one for cocktail hour.  Another popular choice is the wrap-around terrace, with a covered section, perfect for those hot summer evenings.

Are you as in love as we are?  Send us a note if you’d like to start dreaming up your celebration here.
