One of my favorite sayings is “The Days are long, but the years are short.” Every year that I grow older more mature, how much I realize the endless potential each year holds. In this industry, all of our success comes from the amazing couples we get to work with and the relationships of others in the business. Really, we count all of our success to come from the people we are able to meet and serve. So thank YOU for being a part of this wild and precious life.

W I N T E R
Winter 2019 truly matched the season, in that it was a time of going underground, quiet preparations, and sowing seeds and opportunities that would take shape later in the year. Personally, my husband and I listed and sold our house which was a huge milestone and only after did I realize just how much effort it takes!
S P R I N G
The spring brought in with it our first wedding of the season at the luxurious 2941 Restaurant, in which we assisted another planner. This sweet couple was the perfect start to the season, and was particularly special as a vow renewal.
We produced a styled shoot at Glen Echo Park with an all – star team of vendors. I, for one, could not believe the magic we created. I count this as my debut into editorial shoots and I really did not realize quite how much I would enjoy the process. I consider this shoot to be the spark that fueled my creativity for the rest of 2019. Because I loved Glen Echo so much, the event manager, Laura, and I dreamed up a plan to host another shoot at the park in June (Keep reading…)

Memorial Day weekend we celebrated in style with Grace & Patrick at two grand DC venues, St. Matthew’s Cathedral in DuPont Circle and the grand National Museum of Women in the Arts downtown. This was our first wedding at NMWA, and we cannot wait to go back. What I love about it, is though it has its own grandeur, is the endless opportunities for design and layout. The couple wanted to enjoy dinner upstairs, and enjoy dancing on the dramatic mezzanine level.
S U M M E R
Summer was the season of winery weddings and outdoor ceremonies — always a favorite for us. It was the first time for us at gorgeous Potomac Point Winery, a tuscany inspired winery, tucked away in Stafford, Virginia.
Summer also brought us (for the first time) to the gorgeous Stone Tower Winery, just outside Leesburg, Virginia for Juanita and Chris’ wedding celebration. Though there is an abundance of venues in Loudoun, Stone Tower boasts a stunning property overlooking the Bull Run Mountains, and a variety of ceremony and reception spaces. Juanita and Chris were the first couple to have their reception al fresco under the string lights. The stone stage provided a dramatic dance floor with the hills looking on in the background. This wedding at the height of summer solstice had the blessing of so much daylight and a late sunset.
In late June, we produced our second shoot at Glen Echo, this time showcasing the creek and foliage, and the artisan yurts and glassblowing shop. There is so much to explore at this hidden gem.
We explored another new venue in Orange, Virginia: Madison at the Mill. It’s industrial design and wood tables offer endless possibilities and a truly unique feel.
The fall we got to serve many special couples, and we continued our tour of Virginia wineries. Another stop at Paradise Springs Winery for our amazing couple, Meg and Tyler. Right in the midst of fall, October 12, we enjoyed perfect weather and soft light at the winery. With the bride’s impeccable taste, the day was magic. I mean, how happy are these two?
Fall also brought a milestone: The addition of our second team member, McKinzie!
McKinzie is a senior at U. of Mary Washington and we are so excited to have her.
We wrapped the year with weddings at Sylvanside Farm in D.C and the LINE hotel in D.C. — and feel so thankful for all of the opportunities and stories we were able to be a part of.
And as befits any story, we ended at the beginning: with a wedding January first at the historic Mount Vernon Inn. It was my first New Years Day wedding, and I gotta tell you, it was quite an end and a beginning.
